Amelia Cole

I'm a sophomore at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy with a focus on mechanical engineering. I'm particularly interested in systems, mechanism design, and CAD/CAM. I also report on science and technology for the Acronym, IMSA's student newspaper. Writing is not a separate pursuit from engineering for me. Being able to communicate clearly both verbally and through writing is part of doing the work well, and it's a skill I think matters in every area of life.

About
Who I am

Engineer & Journalist

My main focus is mechanical engineering. I'm drawn to how things move and how mechanical systems come together, and that's what I want to build a career around.

Writing is something I take seriously alongside that. I report for the Acronym because I think the ability to communicate well is not optional for engineers or any other career. It's how ideas actually reach people.
